Basic protein components of keratohyalin granules of the suprabasal cells of the skin. Family of intermediate filament-associated cationic proteins found in mammalian epidermis. Bundle cytokeratin filaments. Various sizes in different species (16 kD bovine, 26 kD mouse, 35 kD man, 45 kD rat).
